Can I get copies of a charity's accounts or governing document?

Yes, if it’s a registered charity. You can view and download a registered charity’s accounts from this website if its yearly income is over £25,000:

  • type the charity’s name or number into the green ‘search for a charity’ box on our webpages
  • select ‘view accounts’ from the menu on the left

Registered charities must send their accounts to us within ten months of their financial year end. If the accounts aren’t available for download and you think they should be, contact the charity directly.

All charities – registered or not - are legally obliged to provide their accounts to you on request. They are allowed to make a small charge for this service.

Charities are not legally obliged to provide you with a copy of their governing document but some may:

  • let you have a copy upon request
  • make it available via the charity’s website

If a registered charity will not provide you with a copy of its governing document you can request a copy from the Charity Commission using our online form.
