The Regulator for Charities in England and Wales
The first group of provisions of the Charities Act 2006 came into effect on 27 February.
Dame Suzi Leather, Chair of the Charity Commission, said:
"This announcement marks the first tranche of implementation of the Charities Act. As well as ushering in the first provisions in the Charities Act 2006, it also confirms the date at which the Commission will become a corporate body, with redefined objectives, functions and duties and an expanded Board. We welcome this news wholeheartedly."
